Nestled in the valley of Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s highest peak sits Stowe. It has been called the most sophisticated and cosmopolitan town in Vermont. Like many Vermont towns, Stowe is small in area, but supersized in attractions.
Stowe, chartered as a town in 1763, didn’t see its first visitors until 30 years later.
Although agriculture and lumber were its main industries, unlike many New England towns Stowe’s history does not center solely upon these industries. By the mid 1800s Stowe had become a famous tourist destination because of its easy access to transportation.

Mansfield, walk or bike along the recreation path, and play golf at world class resorts. Mountain biking, flying, gliding and spa facilities are all within an easy drive of each other. Drive up the toll road and at the top view a spectacular vista of the valley.
Auto enthusiasts can indulge themselves in the many classic automobile events throughout the season.
